Tas, that sounds about right. The time we got 72 mpg from Seattle to SF we drove 55 on the flat and downhill, but 50 going up the hills. Stan

Although the impact is surely marginal, I also had DRL disabled on this tank.

I've been trying to figure out if hotter or cooler air is better for mpg on a tdi. My kia cee'd is a diesel and i'm struggling to get it to the epa figure of 4.2l/100k. I must block the intercooler and see how it goes. Did you see much improvement by blocking the intercooler?

Vtec,

Research papers showed that hotter is better for efficiency in controlled lab tests. In practice results may vary. There was to many variable for me to even think about putting a number on it, but it can only help, even if it's only for the aero advantage.

So far it worked for me. I know of someone else getting great numbers who did it on tdiclub.com also. You should try it for yourself.
