Frank -
Ha ha, that's gotta be a 1970's commercial. Slap some light aluminum cladding and it's practically a "Deutsch-2CV".

Yeah, I think you're right. Probably right after the Embargo.
There's lots of classic Beetle stuff to scroll through on the bottom too. One factoid I picked up from clip of the factory was that Beetles have 13 lbs. of paint!
I'd like to know what all they did to that Bug besides the obvious lightening and skinny wheels.

Yea, that does look light. 84mpg would be great! If you Ecco-modded the car a lot of drag would be eliminated, if it didn't weight to much.

Nice find, Frank.
I'd like to know what the announcer said about the engine - the video hiccups there.
The video would have been a valid response to my "100mpg" post this week... "Nobody normally drives like this".

the boxer has had a bizarre history. The dominating physics are so obvious, I know by my own 12 years and even childhood with hippy parents and the real beetle...they had to kill the facts to make it compete with worse engineering (all inlines for example). The bs has got to stop. no more lies. No more inlines. No more 5 main lunatics by subaru. The real think. Anytime now.

I think he's referring to the boxer engine that the old vw beetle uses.
Otherwise known as a flat four, due to the arrangement of the cylinders.
Oh, and the old vw beetle gave about 25mpg as standard, i think.

I'm well acquainted with VWs. What I can't decipher is what's going through his head.
