The aerodynamics are roughly on par with a Jeep Wrangler, or VW T2 if you prefer. It's basically the least aero car in living memory. Modern cargo vans are far more aerodynamic.

A VW with 1.9tdi and manual transmission, or air cooled is are the only VW products I would even consider buying.

When this project was made there were no beetle wings. They made the trend it seems. You could buy or build. Why not experiment with your own shapes?

My mom had a used '75 and my brother had two ('60 & '62). Since the New Beetle got stretched to be more "masculine" (what BS) a slight nostalgia for this body type has developed for me.

Make it return fuel economy no New Beetle has ever delivered!

To my knowledge, the early "New Beetles" are among the least reliable cars on the road, at least until the 2012 refresh. The 1.9 engine is stout, but those cars have a reputation of falling apart around the engine.

The wings are a least-work bandaid solution. The don't address the issue of the tiny rear cargo area.

EDAG are a school in IIRC Switzerland. They produced this a few years back. There is precedent in the fiberglass van conversions for the aircooled Beetle, such as BGW.

At least the too-fast back on the old Beetle aided engine cooling.
