I do not know either . The used 2012 we had briefly , was in the summer months . So we had no occasion to try out any of the hear options .
Are you using a Level 1 ( 120 VAC ) or a Level 2 ( 240 VAC ) EVSE / charger ?
Wyr

I charge with only 240v power.
Have not charged with 120v since last June or July.
120v charging sucks.

I am guessing , on 240 VAC , you would be putting more electricity into the battery than the heating / defrost function will be drawing from the battery .
Having said that , best I remember , the early Leaf's charger was half the capacity as that of the later Leaf's ?
Think it was 3 point something kw ?

Yeah my 2011 leaf will only allow a maximum of about 3.8kw through the j1772.
But my home chademo averages a little over 7kw.

Did not know there were any home chademo EVSE units available ? That is the DC Fast Charge port ?
Was your battery replaced when you owned the Leaf , or after you acquired it ?
We had no public chademo stations in 2 - 3 hours of our location . Or more .

The battery was replaced in 2014.
The home chademo plugs into the big DC fast charge port.

Back when we had our Leaf , I was told a battery replacement was around $ 5,500.00 ! :-(
How long does it take to charge with the home chademo EVSE ?
The Leaf we had , my wife would leave to do her morning errands . She would plug it in when she came home at noon .
She would leave in the afternoon to do her errands & plug it back in for the night , when she returned .
So , it got a long , full charge every night .
Only charged it once with the Level 1 120 VAC EVSS that came with it .

I modded the evse that came with my leaf to run on 240v.
The chademo could charge the leaf from 20% to 90% in less than 3 hours.

I bought one of these diesel fired hydronic heaters.
It can burn diesel, up to B30, gasoline or E10.
I'm thinking diesel fuel, untaxed diesel fuel.

Still waiting on it.
I hope heaters4you isn't one of those "please allow 4 to 6 weeks for delivery" businesses.
