A teardown and review of diesel heaters and using old oil in them etc.
I skipped ahead a lot in the video, but it looks like the 1st part would be useful info to anyone looking to heat an EV with a diesel heater.

CHP may be a better option:
NB that the efficiency of an ICE goes WAY up to around 90% IF you are using the 'waste heat'.
As batteries don't perform in cold climates, perhaps using the (normally wasted) heat from a small genset is a better option as you can then supplement the sub par amperage from the battery with the bit of power from the generator, which should help them last.

Sucking warm air from an enclosure encasing an air cooled engine should be simple enough.
Perhaps a repurposed EGR cooler can be plumbed in and used to heat battery 'coolant'.

Silencing the warm air/noise from an air cooled engine: Not so easy.
Perhaps a water cooled engine is a better option.

There are just too many variables that depend on the particular EV to come up with a universal plan for such a 'Super Mild Anti Freeze Series Hybrid'. (SMAFSH )
Space and the integration of the power into the current electrics for it is probably the main challenge.
