(this isn't quite word for word, but very close) @~1:10

Then: ventilation drag is 50 percent tires and 50 percent wheels. This would suggest that 4% can be saved by putting full wheel covers on. This is double checked in the wheel graph you show later (@2:50) by a fully covered rim giving a -.015 Cd. On a car whose Cd is .30 this is a 5% decrease in drag.

In the qoute above you say you don't think it makes much of a difference. It sounds you are contradicting yourself. Maybe what you mean by "much of a difference" is different than my version? I know if Porsche went through the effort to find these results and I would assume that Honda did for the insight then full wheel covers would be worth their effort on our own cars (rather than buying a new set of rims).
I actually said "moving from a good standard wheel to one with a full cover I doubt does anything at all". I stand by that. Obviously, a really crappy wheel can be improved on, but here you see people putting full covers on Gen 1 Honda Insight wheels, etc.

I use Kumho Ecowing.

I don't know - I've not seen any engineering data on the magnitude of drag reduction from skirts. I also imagine it would vary from car to car, and especially from wheel design to wheel design.

No, not correct. Two such examples are covered in my book.

I know what you said I quoted it in my post and put it in bold...

So what I am gathering is:
1.If you have an average wheel adding a wheel cover cover can likely improve aerodynamics

and

2. If you have an optimized wheel for aero adding wheel covers likely doesn't do anything.

and the second part of the graph above reflects this because most of the area of the 1st gen insight wheels are covered so the reflected change in drag would be smaller and therefore marginal at best.

3. Nothing in aerodynamics is guaranteed and you must test everything.

Yes, and add:

4. In some cars, full wheel covers can actually give negative results.

5. It's likely that the front and rear wheels should not be the same.

I was looking through some of your videos and found this:

Why didn't you link to it earlier? It answered pretty much every question I've asked.

Um, read my book and then you'll know - and not have to stumble across my YouTube videos?

Plus, lots more detail in the book - the tech papers are cited, etc. One paragraph in my book is a whole YouTube video.

I haven't been to work in a few weeks due to COVID-19. So I won't buy your book(s) right now. Hopefully in the future.

I've heard you say that before, I think it was in your suggested books video

It still seems easier to the alternative of us replying back and forth.

I have Youtube trained up to put your videos on [my] front page.

But better than stumbling, is https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCK9...uiCjxcQ/videos. I count 219 videos in the last year. Most popular is The truth about vortex generators on cars.
