I had a Saab 95 (the station wagon version of the 96) with that engine. Absolutely bomb proof motor. Wish I could say the same about the transmission.

The problem with these old cars is that all the glass is inset deeply into the body.
Solvable problem. Picture a lead sled Merc time attack car. Smoked gray plexiglass from the drip rail to the beltline crease, wall to wall on the door and from the B-pillar to the end of the drip rail over the quarter-window.

Then a driver's window like this:

You'd be looking at either the A2 tunnel in Mooreville,NC (@ $480/hr for the 1st 2-hrs),or DARKO,Ogden,Utah ($500/hr).

I thought of a diagnostic tool for you.
stick on window sealer for your house it's meant to be put on the inside of your windows to reduce drafts. Try to find some that is a push to stick type then you heat it with a hair dryer and it shrinks. Do just the inside window to test the felts... if not tbere then start covering suspect places. No idea how well it sticks
Just an idea.

You claim the noise also exists on the passanger aide.

Get some one else to drive while you hunt around on the passenger side.

Aerodynamic wind noise suppression

Thanks, I have been using my noise-cancelling headphones on those long high-speed trips for some time now

There is NO doubt that the same wind noise is on both sides. It is loudest at the "A" pillar and at the lower part of the door glass just above the door handle

Guess I'm getting old, loud sounds really bother me
