Whats with the French use of CV in car names? The car that i posted about that was built in Florida was based on the Renault 4CV.

123 - Both Beetles are regular non-supers. Nothing fancy.

Since I will be keeping at least one of the beetles more than likely (the daily driver), I'm tempted to install some sort of rear fender well cover, and maybe some removable front ones.

The bug also has some chrome eyelids. As nice as they are for character, I'm tempted to pull them off for economy's sake. That or put some sort of clear cover over them so I can retain the look, and keep the economy.

Luckily I already fiberglassed a bit of the daily driver bug, so I'm fine taking more fiberglass to it.

Alright, I've done a bit more sketching. I think I'm gonna end up staying with this general shape for a side view. The wheel flares will not extend all the way over, so the coke-bottle shape will only be within the general front and back of the wheels. I'm thinking of using glass from the front of a super beetle because it's a little more rounded, and still easily available. It will also provide a bit more visibility. I only have the side and part of the front sketched up now, but I'll be adding more later. I'm not giving up on this just yet, although sometimes I get really put down about it. Got a lot of crap going on, so it's going to be hard.

I figure I will keep the front part of the frame: the front of the gas tank and cluster, to the doors, & part of the rear. If possible, I'm going to try and keep it no wider than the original bug, which means I'll probably have to gap the doors a bit wider to prevent some top looking down bottling. And I want to make special hubcaps, Like these (imaged from PelicanParts random vehicle thread) so I can avoid having closed front wheel wells that would widen the vehicle more. I'll upload a picture of the sketch once I've finished the front view and maybe the windows on the side. (still working those out, haha)

Sketch: (I need to do one to scale so that it fits. Looks like I'll be saving the sides of the bug, and maybe just chopping the roof and the part that covers the engine, and the tip of the front)

That looks a bit like the Brubaker box, a kit car on a VW beetle chassis:

Your sketch looks like a lot of work to create out of a beetle. You might be better of starting with a VW bus.

On "Aeromodability of a VW Bug?" :

I found this interesting old article online. See link: Sports Car Graphic - September 1969 - 10 pages.
Use the "next page" link at the top for navigating to the next page.

Nice article, but I do have doubts at the zero rear lift of the beetle.
The aero dynamic measurements were done at 70 mph, because the beetle won't do 100 mph. They then recalculated the values to 100 mph.

I wonder what the lift was at 70 mph... it could have been zero also..

Other then that, it's a really nice article.

It looks a... nothing at all like a Brubaker Box.

Looks like the Ricotti Torpedo to me.

It would make a nice 100 year anniversary tribute.
