Very nice build quality. May it be as nice after a few crestings of the Donner Pass summit.

The belly pan appears to be much lower than the rims. Won't you get pulled over for that?

Thanks. We're looking to do regional testing in late Q3 or early Q4 of this year.

Thanks for the build quality compliment, but I don't know what Donner has to do with anything.

When viewed from the side, one can see that the bottom of the bellypan is the same height as the bottom of the rims.

I took the Infiniti Q45S over 'the Pass' several times thru bad weather. Never had a problem the the body kit or the belly pan. It's actually a pretty well maintained stretch of road from Sacramento to reno nv.

I was groping for a metaphor for road rash. Nice restroom at the summit rest area, though. It's like the Taj Mahal of restrooms.

Any plans to put plasma actuators on the rear corners?

We took the BulletTruck over Donner once in May of 2012. No problems with the ground effects, but we did not have a belly pan on that rig. Anyone here at EcoModder would love that route as it's like 35 miles downhill from the west side of the summit to Sacramento. Talk about hypermiling...

I have been speaking with a firm for about a year and a half on plasma. Thanks for reminding me, I just e-mailed the CEO. I don't know if it's ready for prime time yet though.

oh yeah!!!!! toward the last part of the downhill, there was that slight incline after the gorge. I used to see how fast I could go down the hill to try and make it to the top of the hill w/o getting back in gear.......

Yes, since the bits are largely non-structural I'd think plain ol' fiberglass would work. I'd go with prop rods on the wheel doors too because 1) how often are you in there and 2) seems like those cylinders fail when you need 'em. KISS.

Fiberglass would indeed work, except for our most important metric, Fuel Ton Efficiency or FTE. So the lighter that we can make the empty vehicle using carbon fiber, the better the FTE number is, as we would haul more freight per gallon of diesel fuel.

We will open the tire access doors at least every morning, while doing a pre-trip inspection, and throughout the day via truck inspector whims.

I always thought the KISS principal was only for the stupid people who don't know how to engineer things correctly. Beautiful engineering IS simple and elegant, and that is what those tire access doors are, IMHO. I just love to show-off forethought in engineering and fabrication. If you don't like my tire access doors, you really won't like some other items. But again, they showcase engineering and forethought. This is a concept vehicle, not a production vehicle, but I will personally drive it 48 states. So it's not a trailer queen.
