Still havent burned through a tank of gas yet, but the ranger is getting over 30 mpg. Part of the tank was drove without any aeromds done, so its looking good so far. Got pizza pans this week for it and mounting hardware. will post how i attach the pans and progress on mpgs.
so you removed your front bumper? also when you were planning your dam, did you consider making the dam wider so it could clear the front tires (on lock) and extend over the front wheel wells?
Yes the front bumper is removed, the air dams I have built fit better without the bumper & makes the truck lighter. The abs sheet is 8' long and I have not seen one any longer than that, but you could use two pieces & have them buttress in the middle. I did not consider extending over the front wheels. Nice idea, but it would take a lot more time then what I have invested in the one I built.
32.84 MPG on my 1st tank. My MPG is actually higher though. I drove the 1st 1/4 or more of this tank without any mods. Im pretty stoked & cant wait to get the next big mods completed i.e. pizza pans, aero topper, & side skirts.
In the late 90's I had a 96 Ranger, 2.3L, 5 speed
When the doughnut went out between the muffler and cat, I said screw it and bought
the Dynomax,(then $100) exhaust
I was shocked when it picked up 2-3 MPG's after the install.

Aluminum pizza pans added this weekend. Cut 1.5 inch holes to access valve stem. Covered with a metal hole plug. a step bit or auger bit works well to cut the hole perfectly.
Lowering not an option for me since i need to haul 1 ton of material. Pans attached with toggle bolts. It works, i used them on both my trucks.
If you need to haul 1 ton of material you have the wrong truck, your max payload is 1200 lbs and you will be riding axle on frame, i just about was with around 800lbs in the bed.
