Any radical gen1 Geo Metro Aerodynamics
I want to see some stuff that works
I'm looking to go radical, but I need to see some ideas that have worked.
It's an XFI. I really want about 60 mpg or more. I also need someone to tell me if they know a good machine shop in DFW or a place to get a good cheap short block. Mine sucks oil 1qt for 5 gals. Almost like a 2 stroke, but gets 49 with it.
Future mod are Megasquirt, (on order looking for help there), Mallory 6a box, header, underdrive pulley and stripped interior.
For my future mod to the body include full skirts, sloping hood, boattail. Want some GEO radicals!!!!
Thanks,
Mike

Metro
The XFE was road-tested,coast-to-coast when it was new and returned over 56-mpg at double-nickel speed limit. With the short-block/long-block you should be within striking range of your target.A couple feet of boat-tail should get you to 60 by itself ( highway ).

Sweet. I've seen metro mpg's car, but I was looking for the older Geo's.
And wow 2 days on the scene and I've got a stalker!
Unfortunately I don't weld. Well, I've done some torch welding but not MIG. I always had friends that could weld. Now I've just got to find a good machine shop. I think after the engine and Megasquirt I should be closer to 60.

As Phil says, a boat tail will lower Cd, or you can try reducing A, like this guy did:

My car is anything but "radically" modified in the aero department ... at this point.

That's a little too radical!
I've got to find a plastic distributor in DFW....

hey metro... did you ever do anything more with your boat-tail mockups? that was you right? i saw you initial write up but if i recall you didn't see much gains with the cardboard mockup test run. i'd be interested in working on one of these so would love to see further tests and final design if you have.
also, what is this megasquirt i hear mentioned from time to time? is there a link for the product i could check out?
