Article: BMW Plans All-Turbo Line

According to Britain's WhatCar.com, BMW is planning an all-turbo lineup to meet CO2 emissions. Whether that means the range will come Stateside, has yet to be determined.

Stop-Start systems on 4-cylinder manuals and regenerative braking are currently available across the pond, but the 'Werks are toying with the idea of a "steamer" / exhaust scavenging design that takes waste heat and turns it into usable energy.

The first question, will BMW offer 4-cylinder models here? Next, will the fuel-saving technology be implemented in North America?

I was surprised to learn BMW doesn't offer a 4 cylinder any more. Last time I looked, the 3 series was available with a 1.8. (That'll tell you how long ago I looked....)

If memory serves, it hasn't been since 1999 has BMW offered a 4-banger with the 318ti in the US. The Straight-6 has been the bread-N-butter since.
