call it what you want, but 50 mpg's @ 50 mph doesnt sound all that impressive... what is impressive is your average mpg's on a vehicle that at best (cruise) only seas around 50mpg's.

my focus seas 48-50mpgs @ 50 regularly with very little aeromods, however i cant get anywhere near your average mileage. what kind of techniques are you using? my best mileage on a 20 mile commute is around 44mpgs.

The primary use of the car is for SCCA Rallycross and it is not a daily driver, hence the radio delete and such. My efforts shaved just over 400 lbs.

I'm basically only using DWL to get 50 mpg. In order to get the 76 mpg I got in both fuel economy run competitions, I have to use EOC.

Don't forget this thing's a '91 with 250-k on it. It's a two liter performance engine that doesn't have the low drag single compression ring pistons, micro polished crankshaft journals, and the other modern fuel efficient design elements of today's engines. Also, I left the alternator charging during the mileage contests. I should have used a deep cycle maringe battery and disconnected the charging system for a [reported] 9% further gain.

Very impressive results you could easily make this a DD without adding much weight! With the weight reduction...I imagine that little 2.0L actually feels pretty peppy. From a performance standpoint, how much do you think you lowered a supposed 1/4m run?

Yes it sure does. Everything about the car is better. The handling and braking are better too, but it sounds like a tin box going down the road without the carpet and sound deadener.

The rule in drag racing is 1/10th of a second for every 100 lbs. removed.

How do you open the doors with those giant side skirts?

Do you enter by the trunk?

Ha ha, this was temporary for only a few weeks. I had to leave the driver's side window open and then climb through it to get in and out. I kept the car in a garage during this time.
