The problem is this is normal.
I had a semi with a trailer cross a double yellow to pass me a week ago. That seemed more significant than a bozo in a lifted truck.

My personal experience with the backup camera and side view cameras is that attention is focused on the center console instead of on in the direction of intended travel by looking to the right to go left you consider that you have checked your blind spot that is occupied and somebody gets run over. This convenience device (not a safety device) really only helps people with broken necks who can't turn to observe their surroundings. In La were a blinker is only used to indicate that the driver in the lane next to you is driving too slow ; so he /she /it will stomp the skinny pedel to fill the hole you indicated you wanted to fill. So through natural selection you either don't use your blinkers and the side view cameras are unable to function resulting in no improvement and safety, it's actually a reduction in safety if they remove the mirrors in place of the cameras
|
Sound like better implementation of the system is needed. Maybe the display should be in front of the driver or inside the rear view mirror. Continuous monitoring as opposed to coming on with blinker.

You're correct. One of the reasons the Germans don't do that ****, is they don't get minor slaps on the wrist for it. Their fines are huge, and their license which is easier to lose and expensive and more time consuming to aquire makes it less worth it to risk it.

Don't they also require vehicle inspections?

But how can you help looking at it, when it moves?

Well, I don't know if it's real or pretend. I don't pay attention to what it's actually doing, you understand, I just notice the distracting motion in my peripheral vision.

That may be so, but I don't know why I'd be doing either. Even assuming I was someplace where I could get reception...

I am pretty sure you would notice if they moved in sync.
When I was in school, I turned to look at every single movement. It was infuriating! I needed to focus!

I did. There was some good stuff about power parking.
For cars that shipped without an OEM solution, Ecomodder-ers can use beeping backup lights .

I can't speak for the German's themselves but I know when the Army shipped my wife's daily over it had to pass inspection to get a tag. Also had to be inspected before it could be shipped back to America.

Am I understanding this correctly? The Army paid to ship your wife's personal car from the US to Germany, and back again?
WHY?
Don't they have readily available used cars in Germany, for way less than the shipping cost?

That's how the Military operates. They give a flat amount based on certain criteria for moving (distance, family size, etc). You can spend it or keep it.
