bad influence

howdy, after years of riding small bikes, I decided to go for maximum testosterone. I will be thinking about various mods for mpg (minisquirt? tire pressure, aero? extra neutral between 5/6?, cam timing? gearing (shaft?)), but gonna keep it on the road in the meantime, hell it can grunt out a 10 second 1/4 mile with minimal mods needs some basic tuneups and fixups first, but it is running strong enough, and selling my other bikes should pay for it. 70mph feels like 30 on my 250, and my dates will be a lot more comfortable.

thought about one of those, but this was 1/2 as much for on par performance, and 1.8 gallons more fuel capacity. I tried really hard to talk myself into a harley ($$$), but couldn't figure out what that would prove and to whom.

Harleys, prove how much your actually worth, considering all the extra money you put out to keep fixing them? lol

those Sabers are solid bikes for what they are. and if had at a good price is a keeper for sure

I heard those Honda's pre VFR engine are not the most reliable in the head gasket department.

I'm going to buy one of these, a BMW G650 CX. 50 hp but 3.5 l/100 km or 67mpg US and 145 kg/ 320 pound. It should be a good candidate for a Vetter fairing and go like hell if and when required. I can't bring myself to go back to a 250 and having discovered this bike I won't need to.

These single-cylinder BMW bikes are good options.

The G650 CX is the lightest of the BMW 650s by 40 kg ...90 #. It's no longer made for some reason but they are available s/h at reasonable prices . It's fuel injected too.

yah the sabre is about the worst modder bike, shaft drive, lots of CC, 4 cylinders, carbs, frontal area (with big windscreen, nice if it rains) kinda heavy, sprag clutch makes strange bumpstarting, etc. etc.

Maybe it will be out of my system for a while by the time it craps out, if it does. Still it is a far more economical hot rod than any 10 second 4 wheeler at $1700 and 40ish mpg, and the GF seems to like it.

Might be an EV conversion if the motor (gaskets/cams/???) crap out, or might just walk away from it.

I have a V-Max- it's a brute and has a lot of positives but when it comes down to it I get more fun out of driving a slow vehicle fast (cars and bikes) than being on/in a fast vehicle that feels hobbled at legal speeds.
