thanks for the responses,

so i will have to set the imput of the pack at 14.5 volts or above. That could be done,
each battery has 12 volts,
i will wire them in series, and that gives me 24,all i have to do is lower it
my cigarette lighter fuse is 15 amps,i could prob change to 20,or 25

the switch will work in reverse of an alternator kill switch,
insted of killing the alternator, i kill the buster imput to the main battery so the alternator can come on,as it senses less curent.(down the hill, when breaking...etc)
i can use a manual swich for that.
that would extend the range of the buster pack

about the weight, they only weigh 1 lb each,so i'm not concern about that

My main point with the size of the fuse on the lighter plug is that the fuse is there to protect the wiring! if you try to put 20 amps in to wiring that is to small you will melt it and start it on fire! if you are going to put a 20 amp fuse in there then you need to increase the wire size for sure!
personally I would run a dedicated line to the battery with a fuse that is sized right for the wire you are using and sized right for the dc-dc converter and batteries you have, there is no point in starting your car on fire because of this.

If you take the dash apart or look at a wiring diagram you will find out for sure but you will most likely find that they end up at a bottle neck at some point.
