My 1998 Metro had a best tank of 71 MPG and that was really pushing the MPG's out of it. This was also done without EOC or P&G. On average, I get about 57 MPG.
My wife's 1997 Metro had a best tank of 54 MPG with me driving. When the wife drives a whole tank she gets around 47 MPG.

55.58 MPGus
381.8 mi.
6.869 US gal
55.58 US
When I did the math on this, I just figured that the nozzle had cut out early, and that I would wind up averaging two tanks into one... but the next two tanks were very similar conditions and very similar MPG, so I think this tank is good! My best tank yet, and it was completely unexpected!
about 150 miles of regular driving
about 200 miles on the way to Florida for STS 125 launch.
Before leaving for Shuttle launch I installed a half grill block, a smooth front and a smooth rear belly pan, and a windshield deflector. These are in addition to the drivers' side mirror aerospike and the passengers side mirror being folded in that I had for the whole tank.

A 1978 Ford fiesta 4 speed with high gears . 65MPG mix city and highway
I had the fuel line running in the automatic rad to get the gas hotter in the winter made it a very good car for MPG and I even had made a very good intake stove for it.
A 1987 Ford Escort Pony with a 2.3L swap Carb 1 barrel 47MPG Mix city & highway
A 1988 Ford Escort GT V6 3.0L swap 35MPG Mix city Highway.

69.5 mpg ave.
In 1992 I pulled an average 69.5 mpg between Denton,Texas and Cloudcroft,New Mexico.Roundtrip distance was 1,170 miles.I got 57 mpg going,and 82 mpg coming back.
The car was a 1984 Civic CRX w/ 1.3-liter,5-M,no engine mods, but the streamlining package was on.
This was at the old 55-mph national speed limit.
Baseline ave. fuel economy for that car at that speed was 52 mpg.

My best in my 1992 Civic vx was 58mpg on a single tank, I had a strong tail wind with 65mph highway speed for the entire tank.
My best motorcycle mileage was 75mpg on my 1967 Honda CL160 with an average of 72mpg over the entire time I owned the motorcycle.
My current motorcycle a 1975 Honda CB125 averages 68mpg pretty under pretty much every ridding condition.
My 2005 (sold a few months ago) Tomos Arrow averaged around 105mpg at 30mph.
It was not road leagle but it was tight testing conditions, I got 245mpg with a single seater 3 wheeled vehicle I made for a super mileage vehicle competition about ten years back, that mileage was at a steady 30mph.

93mpg on the expressway in my Insight, with the electric switched off. ~50mph, being careful to hold lean burn.
I will post a >100 for y'all in the spring.

observation
It's interesting to me how many of the best mileages were achieved with technology from the last century.
There have been discussions about how more recent laws concerning safety requirements have cut into FE, but this seems to bear that out.

It does seem that the heyday of FE has come and gone for cars, but hopefully there is a second coming!
