Splitter theory. Some racing bents put the splitter in front as well. At a 40mph coast a front splitter is worth about 1.5 mph. You will probably experience some sail effect which can be real fun.

Next step is to build a small sub frame to hold the coroplast from your body and get inside. Leave it partially open for your feet and have it come up high enough for shoulders to be in while in the drops. If you can build it small enough with a decent fineness ratio you may get another 5 mph cruising speed.

What do you hope to gain? Braze a cruciform boom on the steering tube of your bike frame and start there.

I was talking about making a cross out of metal at the steering tube. Make it about 10" out to each side and further out the front. Will give you something to attach the coroplast too.

As far as your current design, most of the benefit would be to the sail effect. In other words you would get a push in any cross wind. If you want to extend it more in front of you that might help aero wise too. Think of the aero bars that are on time trial bikes. They are getting some splitter effect from having the arms out in front. What difference do you see from stock with your current design.

A-B-A test the tail would mean destroy it, and rebuild it... But I do plan on tuft testing it.

I have been working on fairings for upright bikes for several years. It is worth the effort as I get a 4 mph improvement at 10 mph. The method is to get fitted on the bike for your comfortable position. Have someone take a side view picture to get a profile. The idea is to get a 3D body that goes from your shoulders to just below your knees. You will need to measure the width of your hips and shoulders.
