Anyway, here's one of my mountain bikes next to a 90 metre wind turbine. The weather has been lovely here, so the last few days I've been commuting to work off road. No noise, traffic jams or diesel fumes for me.

Thank you! It's a 2011 Giant Trance X. It's a 26er, purchased just before 29ers briefly became the must have. Because of my weight (I'm 6'5" and 265lbs) the rear shock and forks were revalved/resprung by a Rock Shox specialist. Shifters are now SLX after one of the original Deore's failed, front mech is Sram X9 after a snapped chain tore the original off, and the rear mech is XT after a rock did for the original. Front wheel is Mavic rim on a Hope hub after an unfortunate nose first into a ditch incident. Black spire chain rings and new handlebars. Charge Spoon saddle - I ordered one in brown for my Sportive bike, but accidentally ordered 2 so put the second one on this bike. Carbon Thompson seat post with Hope clamp.
Aside from the headset bearings which are now Ritchey all the BB and suspension bearings are original and still smooth as silk.
I've 3 other MTBs, and I'm eyeing an Orange next, although im still not quite decided between that or another road bike.
212 miles this month, estimated 270 or so my the months end. I'm seriously considering getting shot of my car, I'm simply not using it.
Here's a few of my other bikes...

Do any of the cyclists on here use Strava? I'd be willing to link up with other Ecomodders, or we could even start our own Strava club.

This is probably a repost, but it's the only one I've got.

Here's my red "Schwinn" grocery getter (really, a Chinese company now). Got it on bikesdirect for like $350. It's solid and utilitarian but nothing special. Converted to one chainring on the front because Texas is pretty flat.
The green one is my wife's no-name Chinese grocery getter. She's not really into biking, but I can get her out maybe 20 times a year.
Yellow is my 2000 Schwinn Homegrown (the original USA Schwinn) that I got off Craigslist for like $250. It's very light and well-made. I think it weighs something like 20 pounds with the XL frame. Great hill climber, also converted to single front chainring. Older mountain bikers usually get a kick out of seeing it, apparently it was a big deal back in the day.
And our trainer strands that are a great way to get some exercise in. I love to watch YouTube and ride those.
I'm working from home as of tomorrow, so far less driving in the future for me!

Taking my parents' cat for a ride on my junk bike. In a milk crate lashed to the handle bars.
