I don't want to lower Berta, she's low enough for polish roads

I think I'll go into the air dam direction with belly pan, because I want to flatten the belly of Berta. You can see here Three levels of Berta's belly that there are few things that can be improved.

I'll try to find some details. But I have ducts from the front to the wheel arches, but those are for cooling the breaks.
You could use the holes for the fog lights to make ducts to feed the air curtain. Better, though to have ducts off the center cooling hole. (Less drag because the center hole is at the stagnation point so has greatest pressure, but out at the fog lights the air is accelerated, so holes there would make more drag.

Do you have any pics of that?

BMW EfficientDynamics : Aerodynamics

Check this out. Piece of cake for E36 modification. Cut a slot in the fender well liner and/or the leading edge of the fender wheel hole. Add plastic ducts from stagnation point intake at the nose of the car.

That's the short explanation.
But BMW researched that in their windtunnel to actually make it work

I just have to take a close look at some new Beemer on the street, and maybe take some photos. It's an interesting idea but I'm not sure it's good for DIY. But maybe with lots of tries with different angles, cross sections of the ducts, and tuft testing I could get somewhere near the front wheel fairings effect.

Love this thread, Great job!
Not sure if you saw this product. But this is another way to tackle the grill block, I think similar to what Otto was saying. I'm going to try and DIY something like this.

Hard Motorsport BMW E36 Kidney Grill Aero Plates

That's an interesting idea for Bimmer's aero grill, and it should be very yeasy to fabricate something similar. I'm just thinking if I won't use one "kidney" as an inlet for ram air setup, but that's just thoughts for now. Anyway I'm working now on MPGduino setup for Berta, and it's pain in the .... because of my huge LCD display and no good place to put is on the dash. Then I'm planning a kill switch, because Berta engine's running in period is about to finish. Then tempomat and manual accelerator linkage, then some aero mods finally.

Whats Berta's thoughts on the kill switch? Ignition? Injector? I'm very interested in doing the same on the 328

Aero Bodykit | BMW | E36 | "CSL" style kit Front Bumper with Carbon Splitters(FB)

This is how BMW handled the air intake on their crazy CSL model.

Berta's engine is old fashion diesel but controlled with ECU and Bosh VE injection pump. There is an cut off valve on the pump housing so I just need to cut the wire and place a switch there. That's very easy and efficient way to do that.

With your gasser you can go for injector or crankshaft/camshaft position sensor cut off. There are many ways to deal with the issue.
