Bam and his son were up front.Pooch and travel gear in the rear seat. The back of the T-100 was loaded with holiday goodies, and Dark Shadow was full of light, bulky stuff.
What a sight! It just glides away like some phantom apparition! Very cool!
PS,it was quite windy last night and Bam said,no problems with that.

Being that this T-100 is an extended cab, I have full useable space in the cab, bed, and trailer. As a matter of fact, all areas was fully packed with barely any room to stuff more things into this run.

As I (hopefully) git more runs consistently in the 30mpg range, I will start refining Dark Aero and the rest of the rig so I can start aiming towards 40mpg...

Shoulda got a picture of everything piled in front of it. Maybe next time.

Believing in the end of my air-cooled VW trajectory, I'm starting to see the opportunity cost. So I have the pieces of a boat tail clamped to the back of my car. I discussed it with aerohead (what is now) two years ago.

So you are inspiring me. 40mpg is also my goal. How do you propose to get there? Engine mods? Glowing plasma actuators?

Edit for typo. If you built it like an armadillo shell or a beetles hard outer wings, it could open up into a Burning-man-worthy event. Here's the Ford Evos again:

and some deTomaso concept:

How to git to 40mpg? Not exactly sure but I'm gonna keep plugging away and trying out various options. No engine or transmission mods on the horizon...just trying different aerodynamic mods at the moment.

The run up from Wichita to Lincoln was met with the major winter storm which included strong headwinds, rain, freezing rain/sleet, and icy roads. I'll be lucky to see around 20mpg on the fill up.

The aluminum flashing I installed on the nose of the wheel pant split a little. I'll need to patch that with some soda cans.

So, what are you going to do? All-electric?

Arcimoto SRK8. All I've done so far is put down a refundable deposit.

I just posted this in the trailer thread. I thought I'd put it here as well so I can point to the apparent tilt to the pivot axis. It looks like it would bias the swivel away from the forward direction so it's responsive when backing up but then the bias is overwhelmed in forward motion.

Random TRANSPORTATION pictures - Page 1602 - Pelican Parts Technical BBS

I notice also the high hinge line and the H-shaped landing gear strut.

Does Dark Aero have a vertical pivot or is it angled?

I've hit over 39.5 mpg 3-times,so it's not out of the realm of possibility. With a Diesel,turbo,direct-injection engine we'd be talking 51.35 mpg for these black swan events.44-mpg average.
That was at 55-60 mph,so speed may be a deciding factor. And mountain elevations/air density will also come into play.
19-mpg going to 40-mpg is a 2.1X mpg increase. It's off the charts if we're talking strictly aero, but that's also figuring a constant BSFC,and we don't have an engine map to help us predict how the engine will actually behave.
I suspect that the 3.0-L V-6 and existing gearing won't allow it.
The lowest LRR tires wouldn't hurt either.
