If we can come up with a baseline at 70 mph, then, according to GM's old school relationship, any 10% drag reduction would equal a 6% mpg improvement at this speed.
We could reverse-engineer the Cd from that.

That is JUST WONDERFUL.

A paint suggestion (I understand about the 20ft rule, and this paint scheme wouldn't require a showroom finish):

In this case it's more like 50ft. However, I plan on painting a diagonal line similar to your suggestion. Thanks.

I really wish I had the skillset to do this to the Civic, because I totally would without a doubt... Would love to get 55-60mpg out of the civic driving 70mph, which I don't think I will ever do without a boat-tail.

Great job. What is next? Front wheel covers? Tony (arcosine, aka. "coroplast man") made up some hinged ones on his Saturn.

.

No front wheel covers.

The front wheel is now slightly recessed behind the body side line since building out the lower sides. Wheel gap fillers in the fender well along with wheel spats and smooth wheel covers finish it off. If VW thinks that's good enough for their XL1, then it's good enough for me.
