Gahhh I lost the photo, but I was behind a Cavalier loaded with a stack of pallets in the trunk, then another stack about 6' tall on the roof.

Not sure my Echo could handle much of a trailer, though it has a Class I hitch. As the car was bought new, he must have put it on there, but I have no idea what it was actually used for.

I say Cafe standards brought about the modern pickup/SUV craze. We'd be better off with a quarter million oversize V8 cars being sold every year than trucks. 90% of suburban pickup or SUV drivers would be as well served by a body on frame wagon or car in terms of actual duty, and would see benefits in both handling and FE. And no drop in safety...

Bowlus trailers were friggin awesome! If my Airstream coffee table book is to be believed, it had a lot of influence not just on Airstreams, but on aerodynamics in general. Plus they plain looked cool.

Big V8 cars get pretty bad milage too. The Lincoln town car we had did 14 to 16 in town and 22 to 24 on the highway. Best it ever did was 26 highway.

I got better than that with my suburban when it had the old engine and old nearly warn out good year RT-S tires.

I took the family up to Osoyoos last week for a vacation. It's a 450 mile round trip consisting of some freeway, and a lot of mountains climbs. I pulled the V-Strom there on the Harbour Freight trailer behind the Matrix and averaged 8.8 L/100km (26.7 MPG).

Here is how it folds up in about five minutes to fit in my garage:

This afternoon's project. Now the HF trailer has sides. The wife is planning an Ikea trip tomorrow for some sub-par quality furniture.
