Good stuff. Keep us posted or start a fuel log here on the site.
A review I read noted that the mileage isn't as good as the EPA rating. That doesn't mean a ton though.

Based on the sales figures for october, it sounds like the C-max is selling really well. It's good to see and hopefully means things will get better in the future.

sorry to double post, but in response to your original question about aeromods for the car, I would:
-delete the passenger side mirror if everyone who drives the car is comfortable with that
-Grill Block as has already been suggested
-Zip tie on some smooth wheel covers. This would be the biggest aeromod that is easily removable
-inflate tires
-The car already sits pretty low, so I'm not sure an air dam would work out. Maybe you can take a picture of the underside of the car for us so we can see how aerodynamically "dirty" it is
Check out this thread for ideas too: http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea...dan-21406.html
he modded a 2011 Ford Fiesta which is similar to your c-max.

Here is proof that you ca well exceed the EPA rating.
You will notice, this was a 70 mile trip, not a short trip for 2 miles to the store in EV mode. This is evidence that diligent driving can do alot for mileage. That being said, this thing has some serious power. It really does move if you feel the urge.
Anyway, this was a long drive of mixed in town and highway driving. I have seen much higher rating than this (I had one at 60.1mpg). But, this is a typical trip if driven carefully. I do drive the speed limit, however, not very slowly like you might imagine.

I'm a little confused - the trip was 70.5 miles, and you used 1.38 gallons of gas. Did you drive in EV mode for 44.1 miles of the 70.5? If so, then that is really just 30.4 miles that used 1.38 gallons - which is ~22MPG?

"EV mode" really just means engine off. The Prius C does the same thing.

Average speed was about 35 to 40mph.
I averaged 50mpg today for my entire 125 miles of driving.
I love this thing!

Nope, it was much faster than that while I was moving. I sat for a very long time at an accident and one long train.
I will say that when the speed is up over 55mph, the mileage drops. But, anything under 45mph is very high indeed.
