I might just do the $25 model from TurboSquid. I searched for free models via 3Dmdb and nada. What's the deal with the price tiers? Amount of detail?

Probably detail. That $95 model was probably produced by scanning an actual vehicls. The others are produced by box modeling off a 3-view drawing.
I dropped $25 on a model years ago.
The software (maybe the hardware) made it impractical to modify the original so I just hung kludges on it. I should take these into Blender, it does Booleans.

I see. Well, it looks like a hell of a tool. I've learned nothing, to-date, about vector drawing or CAD. I can screw around in TinkerCAD and manipulate things to find parts in AutoDesk but that's about it.
Is it pretty easy to produce dimensions for kludges with, say, SimScale?

Don't know. Those white shapes were produced in Wings 3D, a box modeler and rendered in a different program.

But seriously, I can't justify $95 on a 3D model with Summer semester coming up.
I think I can tip-toe and ad hoc my way through this well enough to get results without spending a bunch of extra money.
But I will favorite that site. Looks like it's a much better one than some of the ones I've been looking at today.

With help,I've never paid a penny for images printed from online sources.Even if they're full of watermarks, they're plenty good for what we'd need.Look at 'cartype.com'.

There's a lot of good stuff on that site. Thanks very much! I didn't look long enough to see if they have anything 3D but I'll definitely find a use for some of it.
