Your image was taken too close to the car, altering what Honda's design would reflect from a telecamera or blueprint....
Is there a known method for producing the proper scale when taking a photo? Like, a certain distance away the camera should be or how high?

I'd definitely be able to seal the edge of any spoiler/sing to the glass and I'd be interested in potential gains based on a properly scaled image.

All the different elements interact with each other and make "one size fits all" simplicity impossible. Experiment.
Thought you might say that. I'm definitely wanting to play around with the idea and see how the numbers shake out. You used two sided tape for a test fit/run, correct?

Short of actual technical drawings from Honda,a photo from 200-meters with a telephoto lens would fairly approximate true length images.
Some factory brochures have technical images.GOOGLING: automotive blueprints might lead to technical drawings which can be printed from the source. These are 3-view drawings typically,so they also help with plan-view-sourced mods to respect 3-D flow.
It's worth the effort to have the details.Aft-body flow is where the war is won or lost.If we try and fake it,the air will respond accordingly.

I agree wholeheartedly.

I'm definitely going to be augering into that project before cutting any plastic or even taking measurements. Want to see if the profile even agrees with a spoiler first.

Worst case, I'll do the 200-m photo, fab everything to be temporary, and test. Appreciate the guidance!

Sounds best case to me.

Versus obtaining a 3D model and slicing it.

Right. Looking for blueprints only took about 5 minutes before I realized it's probably a dead end unless I want to pay some shady database for it.

Of course, none of it's spec'd out or labelled, so I wouldn't even know if it was what I wanted.

3D model based on a real van, created according to the original dimensions.

All model files were "smoothed". By request we provide un-smoothed files.

All main parts of the model are separated objects. You can easy change all materials.

We provide several formats for each model, most of them available by default.

Images rendered with using V-Ray plugin, lighting and environment don't include to a set.
The [best] software is free — Blender 2,8x. I've never heard of 3D Hum before. You have to sign up for https://www.cgtrader.com/free-3d-models/car, or for https://www.turbosquid.com/Search/3D...ee/vehicle+car.

edit: FWIW, Hum 3d is now following me all around the web, pitching the model that you [might] want.

Those *******s called my car a van. Hard pass.

But seriously, I can't justify $95 on a 3D model with Summer semester coming up.

I think I can tip-toe and ad hoc my way through this well enough to get results without spending a bunch of extra money.

But I will favorite that site. Looks like it's a much better one than some of the ones I've been looking at today.

I noticed that, and thought they'd pulled that out of their ....database.

I led with price and ended with the free options I neglected to search for you. There are others. I mentioned Blender because it has the tools to do Computational Fluid Dynamics. The blue smoke and mirrors. I haven't found examples yet though. I'm a Blender novice myself, still trying to put text in a picture, let alone animation and video compositing. (There's a lot in there)

Ah, gotcha. I perused the free options and they have some very low price models but then the concern is quality, right?

And I'll definitely look into using Blender for fluid dynamics.

I did find SimScale, which seems promising, if I can somehow get a good 3D model......https://www.simscale.com/ They have a free "community" level account that I signed up for.
