Chevy Bolt price cut

Chevy has added every incentive they can to get the remaining stock of Bolts over the curb before the Federal (up to) $7,500 rebate expires on the last day of March. And the dealers are dumping in even more. Most of the cheaper LT's are gone but they got the price of a loaded Premier down to $30,300 including the NY State $2,000 instant rebate. I really don't need another car right now though. $3,200 down (tax and tags) and $530/ month for 5 years at 3.35% (with $6,000 coming back on my next years taxes).

Good deals, but I would still be thrilled to buy lightly used with <50k miles a few years old. Probably half the payment.

Yeah, I've had interest rates from a credit union at something like 2%. That's lower than you can get investing in an index fund on average. Low fixed interest rate loans aren't something to be avoided, and can be used to hedge against inflation.

If you do it right, financing is a great tool. I couldn't afford to buy my house in one payment, but even with zero down payment the mortgage was only $100 a month more than the rent I had been paying at the time. And if you're not planning on moving, owning is way cooler.

I drove off with my Fit with only a signature, too. I didn't have $15.5k burning a hole in my pocket, but I did have a pen. The fuel savings over the POS I had been in came close to covering the payments, and nowadays those payments are gone but the Fit isn't. I'd love to grab one of those Bolts, but I won't need a car for a long time. Not needing a car doesn't mean missing out on a deal: by the time my Fit goes, I'll be scouting some very nice used model 4s.

My Fit is still running well also. 116k miles. Slight bearing whine in the trans at times. Probably not going to buy the Bolt this time around. Even at an effective $24,000. Plus $2,500 sales tax.

My local dealer has Bolt LTs for $27,969 and Volt Premiers for $25,731. (Both before the Federal Tax Credit.

Wait, so it might be possible to get a new Volt for about $14,000 if someone qualifies for both the federal credit plus both of the Oregon credits? Heck of a deal.
