Chevy Volt.... Lifted
So, my wife likes my Volt and has always thought they are a good looking car. Like myself, she also likes to find ways to save us money. BUT, it's a bit too low for her. I don't mind it so much, it occasionally causes some discomfort getting in and out but I do prefer sports cars which are generally smaller.
I present the Chevy "Model X" (quote for skirting trademark issues)
If I could lift one, i bet i could convince her to trade her traverse in. Thoughts?

Not a great picture, I know. I was just rotating the tires and thought it was an interesting one to snap.

Tiki torches. I can be friends with a man who has tiki torches in his garage.
Aren't there plug-in CUVs on the market now from Hyundai and possibly others?

The PHEV Niro comes to mind. Great car, from everything I've read. Better fuel economy on gas alone than the Volt, too.
That said, if you want to go ahead with lifting the Volt, can I suggest air suspension? Make it adjustable, so it lowers back down once you're moving.

I have no intention of doing this, just a picture I snapped a few months ago and remembered it.
Seems like an easy way to attract other buyers. Car too low? Give it a 6" lift!!

You joke, but on an old car I used to drive I put reasonably oversized tires on it for the gearing advantage. Went from 24" tires to 26.5" tires, and the ground clearance of the car was quite impressive. Taking off in first was a problem thus they wore out quick.

Car people talk about cars being better for old people with arthritis. Truck people talk about trucks being better for the same. My grandmother used to have one of those recliners that help you to your feet. I am now visualizing an air bag system on my mom's Camry that makes the driver's seat six inches higher, but tilts the car towards the driver.
Hmm... I would need to figure out how to make the driver's seat rotate at the same time.
So, she does not step out and then stand up, she just puts her feet under her and straightens.
This would be especially awesome for someone in the passenger's side, in the back. They might be an extra two feet from the ground!

Hey you joke but all it would take is some coil over perches on your oem dampers, an upper hat to adapt the perch and then you could throw on a taller spring similar in height to the uncompressed damper and there is your lift. I've thought about selling my Prius for a TDI jetta because it has better torque, towing capacity, and highway capabilities for towing my boat. Then just lifting the jetta and lowering my boat trailer and I would have fantastic ability to access all these rough ass boat ramps to put in at.

It's like the safari builds I keep hearing about...it's a minor trend to lift sports cars and fit with off-tossing tires as something of a rally car/great for bashing around the city and its potholes. It sounded dumb to me at first, but the more I think about it, the more I kinda like the idea. Check out Leh Keen's Safari 911 builds.
