Civic Hatch Pre-made Spoiler/ Kamm

My buddy sent me this link when I posted the picture of my kammback. These look pretty good, they don't extend down the sides much, but still better than stock. They also have spoilers for the next generation hatchback as well, this could be a good option for those wanting some form of a kammback.

I like the look of their offerings, cool site.

In my opinion, they would work better if a small air gap was at the leading edge. Air could then be drawn downward.

I'm pretty sure that their goal is to increase down force at speed though, not improve MPG.

I googled more pictures of it, the ccc racing eg wing ks what I searched. It seems that it does taper downwards a little bit, and to my eye, looks like it would achieve drag reduction, but being a race application, I'm sure downforce is the primary objective.

I'm curious about your idea with the gap at the leading edge, how does that reduce drag beyond maintaining laminar attached flow with clean separation?
