Yeah, that would be a good idea. I keep thinking a table of "relevant eco-parameters" that could be filled in by members. The person that filled in the value would be "associated" with the eco-parameter. If someone wants to change the value, they would have to "contest" the original value, maybe sparking an auto-thread. That seems like a forum class all it's own, where the threads would link directly to the value in the table. It would also be hard to classify the cars egg-zactly. My car has 3 generations * two different weights based on auto/stickshift transmission * two engine choices.

Hmmmmm, maybe one member would be given "control" of one class of car. They would fill-in values as best they can, and the details would "grow" over time with other user's input. For instance, SVOBoy knows CRX's quite well, so he could build a good CRX attribute database.

I'm not a web programmer, but it seems like a PITA to program.

A program would be great but I can understand how it would be a pain.

It doesnt even have to a be a sticky.

It could be a link on top to a page with the info which gets updated as the numbers come in.

The CRX "technically" isn't a Civic at all... even thought it's on the same chassis, has the same VIN designation, etc.. it has it's own generation icon. That one in the image is a 2nd gen CRX. - FYI

Then what about the 1st-gens that were badged "Civic CRX"? Ditto the shop manual for the 85 that I saw at the used book store?

LOL Dave -

Both CRX's have a proper title of Civic CRX (CRX actually means Civic Renaissance - model X, which makes "Civic CRX" like saying ATM machine.)

Characteristically, the 1st gen CRX is a match to the 3rd gen Civic, and the 2nd gen CRX is a match to the 4th gen Civic. They share many features, engines, interior and exterior design cues.

Chassis platforms are the same for each respective series.

However, the CRX still gained it's own generation marker due to the differences that it did have, and the fact that it was meant to be a "revamped, race ready" version of the original Civic. It was a 2-seater sports model that wasn't meant to be comfortable as much as go-ready, and was (speculatively) meant to break off into it's own division and chassis line, which obviously never happened. (Or did it? Insight, FCX?)

Now there is a new generation that is exacted from the CRX in development and prototype... it's called the CR-Z.. and it looks like a work boot.

vs

They're all pretty good candidates and all have their respective merits.I love my CRX but it's a two-seater and doesn't carry a bunch. Not a problem for me,but others might take issue with that. The other CIVICs can carry more and since we know basjoos has hit Cd 0.17,there's plenty potential.Either way,if you're going for low numbers you can't be shy about the back end. You'll never get low drag without a boat-tail and you'll have to consider the ramifications of that.

There. The Civic hatches and CRXes are ranked aerodynamically, from worst to best: 1g Fit, 6g Civic, 5g Civic, 1g CRX, 2g CRX, 2g CRX HF.

Honda hatches are getting less aerodynamic, because although the Cd improves, they're getting larger.

Not to dig up an old thread, but I've been looking in to "upgrading" my civic body style and buying a HB. I found the data on the cd of a 6th gen civic HB, but the coupe (what I have now) is missing. I found data on it to add, and this seems like a good thread to do it.

1996 Honda Civic EX Coupe
Wheelbase 2621 mm 103.2 in
Track front 1476 mm 58.1 in
Rear 1476 mm 58.1 in
Length 4448 mm 175.1 in
Width 1704 mm 67.1 in
Height 1374 mm 54.1 in
Length: wheelbase ratio 1.7
Ground clearance 165 mm 6.5 in
Kerb weight 1127 kg 2485 lb
Weight distribution
(Front) 62.00 %
Fuel capacity 45.1 litres 9.9 UK Gal 11.9 US Gal

Drag coefficient 0.340

Bore × stroke 75.00 mm × 90.00 mm
2.95 in × 3.54 in

Displacement 1.6 litre
1590 cc
(97.028 cu in)

Transmission 5M
Top gear ratio 0.70
Final drive ratio 4.25

Snipped from here

So it looks like at least in the 6th gen (96-00), the coupe has the best Cd in the generation. I think if a kammback or boat tail were added to the HB, the Cd of a coupe. Any data on how many hundredths of the coefficient a kamm has successfully decreased?
