Civic VX - Advance timing & Fuel

I want to advance the timing on my Civic VX to 18 degrees. But, i'm wondering if I will need to use a high octane gasoline to go with the advanced timing?

How do you plan on advancing the timing?
What is the timing at normally?
You might get away with it if it's a small advance...under heavy load is when you may cause damage.

you're generally safe on hondas to advance timing 4 degrees.

I did just 2* and here is my write-up: http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea...tml#post244353

What's the stock timing on your VX? Does it have a knock sensor? 2-4* shouldn't hurt anything, and it will help--very modestly--to produce more low end torque, which is useful for us hypermilers since we drive in the under 2000 rpm range most of the time.

I set mine to 16 degrees at base idle.

I was thinking of setting it to 18 degrees. Nothing too crazy.
