It's interesting that the fit is so close already. How is the width at the bumper?

I thought so too.
The width is pretty much the same.

tail
Darin,I was looking back at Blackfly and the Insight tail, compared to the Civic. They both had more of the elliptical cross-section like Morelli is discussing in his fluid tail article, especially Blackfly.
It kinda begs the question, would the Prius tail have a better shot at performance if those corners were softened?
I tried to give some images, but I can't get photobucket to work on this computer.I'm out in West Texas looking after a friends animals for 10-days and this machine doesn't seem to work for images.Sorry.

Good question. I'll be interested in seeing the images you had in mind -- you could email them to me if you don't want to wait 10 days. darin@ecomodder.com
Initially, my plan is to just stick the tail on the Prius as-is (with any gaps filled in as required). I'll do a couple of runs to get some initial numbers and go from there.
But based on the effectiveness claimed for the other Gen 2 Prius tail we know about, I predict it will work better than it did on the Civic.

here's a second try,from Morelli's paper.Notice all soft perimeter radii
Here,Morelli has added a Kamm extension which modifies the angular greenhouse
upper edge into a softer radius, essential,he says,to get the 'fluid tail' to work.
This 2010 Kia Ray PHEV concept has the proper shape

American Rifleman | Tested: Hornady ELD-X Bullet
There was a time in my [youth? middle-age?] when I thought the solution was a 45° chamfer. They like 7°, possibly because of the supersonic airflow.
