At least the Wrangler is an SUV. Over here they take a regular 2wd car, jack it up an inch, put some fake bash plates on the bumpers and call that an SUV. The people who buy them are most certainly either ignorant or self deceiving if they really think that makes an SUV.
They used to be called crossovers, cars that vaguely looked like a 4x4 but had none of the real mechanical attributes, but the marketing men quickly figured that if they relabelled them as SUVs a wilfully ignorant public would hand over their cash with glee. They were right.
