Corporate Landlord Takes Over Duplex Doubles rent, refuses checks

My new corporate overlord doubled my rent and requires I have an online account with them , it of coarse also has fees associated with it alongside paying my landlords liability insurance.

my identity has been stolen since I was 16 and anytime I make an online payment I almost instantly am compromised again getting fraudulent charges or access attempts to my account(s)

Given Wisconsin sucks is there some way to force other payment methods?

I am disappointed I allowed this to occur, I am very picky about my landlord but sadly half the town is under corporate ownership

Was federal law that people had to accept a cash payment, unsure today, but it could be written into the contract you accepted.

Build an online account that does not have any traceability back to you from a library computer, load it from a western union like cash transfer you can do from a walmart. My credit union can provide insured secure cash transfers from their accounts.
You'll need a non attached fake-ish e mail account.

Or get legal help from a homeless center.

Sounds like time to move.

The stolen identity issue sounds like the more important issue to solve. All of modern living presupposes the ability to confirm identity. With 2-factor (or more) authentication measures in place, it's nearly impossible for accounts to be breached. Maybe a service like LifeLock would come in useful. They also act as insurance, I believe.

Rent can only double if the market will bear that. Has new housing developments been hamstrung, or was the previous owner simply out of touch with market pricing?

overlord

Sounds like Photo-Bucket, when it was taken over by the group of venture capitalists.
I walked way from $770 in photographs rather than pay the ransom money. They got off easy.

Rent has doubled/tripled here in Reno since 2016 and the giga factory but as they are building apartments anywhere there's buildable land, a price crash is a comming.

As for hacking a 2 factor account, it's difficult and time consuming, but not impossible, particularly if you have hacked the e mail account.

I am newly sympathetic to your plight.

New owners here as well. I quizzed the manager --87 units and he's looking at 14 evictions.

16% eviction rate. Seems about right to me. My WAG is that 20% of renters are such dirtbags that nobody should rent to them. By dirtbag I mean they either don't pay on time, or cause excessive damage, or create other livability issues such as being too noisy and disrespectful of others.

Those dirtbags are the reason everything is the cheapest materials possible, because the assumption is they have to get replaced often. It also contributes to "the rent is too dam high".

Anyhow, it seems the pandemic somehow caused housing prices to skyrocket. Hoping new construction will eventually restore some sanity to pricing, though the labor shortage has impacted that industry as well.

An increasing number among the population are living in domes.

Unfortunately, they are nylon mountaineering tents. Hopefully they find a way to upgrade to 3D-printed dirt houses.

I saw this in Yachats recently, thought of you, and snapped the pic. Not a true dome, but I wonder what portion of the benefits it retains? Found it whilst electrically unicycling, as I do whenever I get the chance.

My rental agreement requires me to clean water in the basement and off the walls to prevent mold,
Sadly impossible, line one of the agreement I can’t comply since the walls stay wet until the “environment “ dries out, old landlord would not dig out waterproof and tile, new landlord appears to want me to solve a $25,000+ issue with towels
