Craig Vetter (injured in streamliner/deer collision)
Read else where.....
Right before noon today, Craig hit a deer while riding the streamliner. We are at Natividad in Salinas. He is still unconscious They will keep him sedated because of the breathing tube down his throat. He just got moved to ICU. I saw him move his right arm. All the bones around his left eye are broken. Eye ball still in place. Head trauma, broken clavicle and most ribs on his left side too.
Does anyone know anything further ?
Good Luck Craig !

Thanks for sharing the news, Peter.
It sounds pretty serious. Here's hoping he's on the mend.
(Can you post a link to the source? I looked for more info, but his name didn't come up in any recent news in a G news search.)

Ugh. Best wishes, Craig.
This past week I've been thinking of moving away from the motorcycle projects (mostly just due to the danger from car drivers making mistakes).

I have a friend that used to ride a aeromodded scooter (just seat placement, but it was enough to bump the scooter's top speed 10 MPH to 76 MPH) until a truck ran him over at a stop sign.
Now he is working on refurbishing a salvage volt.

The web page has not been updated since July 31st. Craig just turned 73 years so please pray for healing and a full recovery. He a great friend and a national treasure.
Everyone should consider crash protection what ever vehicle you use. When I drive in deer or bear areas I toot the horn at regular intervals. Whistles for animals mounted in the air stream are known to help. Anything over 20 mph I think will have a lap belt on my bike.
