Question Nissan Leaf-recharge at dealer ?

I have a question that may have been discussed here that I missed.

Since the car has a 100 mile range, I fear that there will be a lot of potential buyers that will be turned away out of range anxiety.

Rather than wait for the rest of the world to catch up and install charging stations, does Nissan have any plans to make the cars chargeable at the dealership ?

Just imagine - almost every small city has a Nissan dealership. Rather than find a gas station, you would just look for your nearest Nissan dealership.

Kinda makes sense.

I just saw the commercial on TV for the car. I'm still in a state of disbelief.

Kudos to Nissan for trumping G.M. with this one.

I really like the idea of battery swap but the read draw of an EV is the home charging so I would hope that they would use the standard EV charging dock for home charging.

Well yes of course. ( And from what little I have read, you can charge it at home from a standard outlet. It takes something like 16 hrs. though.

Nissan also has a charger that only takes 30 minutes.

I can imagine something like the quick charger being installed at the dealerships.

Plug your car in and go sit down at the coffee bar which could be located right in the dealership.

I can see a lot of profit potential in an idea like that for Nissan,

The Leaf has three charging modes:

Level 1 = 120v AC which takes up to 16 hours to go from 0-100%

Level 2 = 240v AC which takes up to 8 hours to go from 0-100%

Level 3 = 440v DC which can go from 0-80% in ~27 minutes

Level 2 is probably going to be the most common. Level 3 will probably be available at the dealer and at other "commercial" locations -- they will be noted on the GPS system in the car, so you know when you are near them.

From what I hear, range anxiety goes away in about 2 weeks of driving -- you charge the car every night, so it is always full in the morning, and you *never* *have* *to* *think* about it on most days.

Best thing they did to make it acceptable to the masses is make it look pretty good. I'm not crazy about the hood lines but overall it looks like a nice normal little car.
I'm curious to see what real world average ranges turn out to be. Really good drivers will probably beat 100mi while most people will fall well short.
A dealer charging station could be good, especially if it's out in front plainly visible to passersby to generate interest. Even better if you could park/charge and walk to the train station or office and then pick it up at the end of the day.

This is an EV that is supposed to have a battery swap option as well, so I would hope that a dealer would get that type of charging, much faster then charging or even stopping at a gas station.
