D15Z1 swap problems

So I'm putting a D15Z1 into my 1990 CRX SI and I ran into a big problem. The old plug leading into my fuel rail (round white 8 pin) in my old motor is now a larger white 10 pin connector on the d15z1. I bought the motor, trans and wiring harness off of someone who had already installed this in a CRX so I was hoping it would be more plug and play so I do not have any schematics, nor was i ready for this.

Is there any way I could cut and splice wires to make this work or is there possibly an adapter I could purchase to solve my issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you are up to just throwing money at the problem, the folks at Rywire : make a lot of different adapter harnesses.

Disclaimer: I know them personally from when they lived up in this area.

If you can dig up wiring diagrams for the CRX and for the motor you have, you can probably cut-and-splice your way to something that works.

Yes, up by the shock tower/brake booster area. I was thinking about splicing my 8 prong connector off of my old motor but I'm worried that if i dont hook up the two additional wires it'll throw a code. I'm at work now but I'll post some pics tonight.

you are in luck, not only do i have several d15z1 vxs here i have a customers 91 crx si here too. i see the plug you are talking about. its right by the resistor box. you are going to have to look at wiring schematics and compare what is similar and whats not and wire it up. i can post pics of the wiring schematics after i finish this timing belt job im on

I see what you mean. The last pic has the 10 pin harness ( ur holding) and the 8 pin on the bottom. The stock Vx (d15z1) harness doesn't have a pigtail like that. All of them are black/ grey

So is the 10 pin connector from a d15z1 or something else?

I have 4 z1 wiring harnesses here none have a white round connector like that. I'd guess it's from an obdo Honda. I forgot to get the wiring diagrams. It might have to wait til Monday

The round connectors are for pre OBD cars.. The D15Z1 is OBD 1 and will have the large square grey plugs. There are a few ways you can change it. Just try to keep in mind the ease of use, reliability, and longevity..
