Deer Hunting
Well I am proud of the safety of my 2005 Ford Focus, unfortunately I went deer hunting the expensive way, totaled out my car, luckily my daughter and I walked away unharmed, I even drove the car home.
Now on to the rental car:
2016 Versa Note with the CVT, man I love this combo, according to specs it has a 10.8/gal tank and I have put 280 miles and just went under 1/2 tank, the tires are the ecopia 422s, I have them set at 35psi as this is a rental and don't want to mess with it too much, but I do love driving it, now I just wish I could afford one to buy as a replacement to the focus.

Avis sells used fleet cars usually one year old with 30k miles for 30-40% under sticker, and comparatively $2k under blue book

Well I am waiting on the payoff for damages and all that, I was able to take my radio and cupholder inserts from old car, I have a 2006 Focus picked out so I can just reinstall and be good to go, the outgoing car had crank windows, the one I am looking to get has power everything, the old car I had put the factory alloys on, this one will probably get pizza pans, here is the link for new ride possibility

Also, I have been thinking of doing a torque converter lockup switch so all ideas will be appreciated, luckily I work at a Ford dealership so I have access to all resource materials.

Bummer about the deer & the car!
I agree, the CVT in the Versa Note is very interesting. It's the same unit used in the Mitsubishi Mirage (and Chevy Spark), and it's remarkable how diligently it strives for fuel-efficient, low RPM cruising. [ See http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea...age-34352.html ]
It also has a "idle neutral" feature (shifts internally to N when you stop to save a tiny amount of fuel).
I haven't tried the Nissan implementation of the trans, and I have wondered if they programmed it to be as "aggressively economical" as Mitsu's approach.

In 2010 I believe it was deer alone accounted for 1 billion dollars in damaged vehicles and dozens traffic fatalities.
Need more deer hunters.

The CVT still has low amount of engagement at a stop but will easily go into neutral if needed, I let my wife drive the nissan, I don't think she could get rated epa based on how she drives, the cvt is not a good trans for her.

You need to install a sloped nosepiece like I have on the aerocivic. Since installing it, I've hit 2 deer at 45mph and the only damage was a dent on the hood and a cracked headlight on one of the collisions. That low nosepiece make the front of the car act like a wedge, flipping the deer up and over the top of the car. Before I aeromodded my civic, I had an identical collision with a deer (45mph with front impact) and I had to replace the headlight, hood, and front quarter panel. The flat front of the typical car absorbs the collision energies, resulting in great damage to the car. In the aerocivic, the collision energies are redirected upwards, resulting in minimal damage.
