Obviously it's not the same deal, but I guess it's worth taking a look...

I guess you notice the raised section above the cabin roof, which may work in a similar way to those wind deflectors fitted to some day-cab big rigs.

I just don't know why Portuguese sounds so much like Spanish, and Brazil speaks that rather than all of their surrounding neighbors. Do people from Portugal have a different accent than Brazilians?

Portugal was dismembered from spain shortly after the Reconquista.

There are mostly Spanish-speaking countries surrounding Brazil, yet the largest border between Brazil and another country is with France, since the French Guyana is not an independent country. There is also the formerly British Guyana where English is the official language, and Suriname where Dutch is the official language.

Even within Brazil, accents vary a lot among different regions, yet it's mostly understandable for people from different regions, otherwise nobody would be able to understand what each other says. On a sidenote, recently Lula da Silva said he couldn't understand what a Portuguese said to him

It's called Popery

Treaty of Tordesillas - Wikipedia
The Treaty of Tordesillas, [note 1] signed in Tordesillas, Spain on 7 June 1494, and authenticated in Setúbal, Portugal, divided the newly discovered lands outside Europe between the Portuguese Empire and the Spanish Empire ( Crown of Castile ), along a meridian 370 leagues [note 2] west of the Cape Verde islands, off the west coast of Africa.
But Man proposes and God disposes. The resulting line is anything but straight.

No, but I've been to Wikipedia.

I first learned of the line in Geography class many decades ago. Brazil really got the short end of the deal coastlinewise.

I guess Rio de Janeiro was still the capital instead of Brasília.
