I was hoping for an 80 MPG tank in 2013. Didn't happen for a few reasons. Goal carries on to this year. I'd also like to get to my grandmother's house and back on one tank. It's a 600-mile round trip, easily one tank at lower speeds, but I usually do the trip at the posted 55/65 MPH speed limits and struggle to get 50 MPG. So 2014's goal is really more aeromods!

Targets for 2014.
Use a bit less gas - CNG.
Which might become slightly easier as I'll have to start paying for it after this month - the 500 euro bounty has been nearly used up.
Walk 100km / 62 miles in under 24h.

I wasn't even close. I just got my car going again after a long year of building the new engine and painting. So I'm going to have to wait until 2015 to see if I can reach my 50mpg freeway goal?

As little as I drive and as efficiently as I do it, gasoline remains one of my biggest single expenses.
That could be because I'm even more efficient (tight) in the other categories.
I just started on my 2014 "Expense Report" detailing income and expenses for the year and am done through October. Even though I've been tracking these things for years, it still is an eye-opener when the numbers are tallied.
I spent $0 on gas in January, March, May, and June; $515 through October. Using the pickup even as little as I can still really hits the gas budget battle. But sometimes work has to be done.

My wife and I budget a Month on fuel is $80.00. We usually are right at $65.00a Month. We work at the same place and are very fortunate that our commute is only 10 minutes away from our house.
Now my Company's truck fuel bill is anywhere from $255.00 to $300.00 a month.
Oh by the way I did your light bulb trick under my desk at home while working on the computer. I'm nice and warm and now!!! Thanks a great tip!!!

On a side note? How does everyone stay motivated to meet their goals.
The older I get the harder it gets. lol
I have broke more eggs this year then all the previous years before. Plus my mods I make have a terrible ratio of success. For every 10 mods I make only 1has value, and the one that has value is such a small increase on fuel efficiency.
Making HP is so much easier then fuel efficiency. I guess the challenge of fuel efficiency is my motivator... or my demise?

I met my goal of raising the lifetime average to 40+. It is right at 40.0. If there were anything which would help me, it'd be more money, to get something with a row-your-own gearbox

Achieve 2014 Goals?
I posted two goals for 2014:
1. Upgrade battery pack (Incomplete)
2. Install Solar Panels (Complete)
1. I didn't have money to purchase an upgraded pack although have seen some really great opportunities developing as used packs salvaged from electric cars are becoming available. I did balance my old pack this summer and got my 50-60 mile range back. I have ridden over 12,000 miles so far, averaging over 350MPGe.
2. I did get the solar panels installed and operational. Here is a picture. http://www.schultzengineering.us/solarbike.jpg This 1,040 Watt System cost $3,000 to install and is eligible for a 30% tax credit to reduce that cost if desired. The solar panels provide enough power (100 kWh / month) to power my electric motorcycle (81 Wh/Mile from the wall) for 1,200 miles a month.

My goal was simply to use less fuel this year than last. I'm almost sure I failed at that. Ah well, I tried. Going from the Sunfire to the Metro surely puts me going in the right direction.
