NAILED IT:
Major upgrades to the Electric Booger - "new" series wound motor, new [simplified] battery monitoring system, brake vacuum pump accumulator and indicator lamp, functional tachometer, motor controller cooling fan, full grill blocks.

MISSED IT:
No mods to the wife's Matrix. No real attempts at mileage increases, as she drives it more than half the time and doesn't really care to try. I should at least do belly pans and grill block for our summer road trips, but ambition has been running a bit low.

I met my goal of 40 mpg over a tank of gas, but it only happened once. My goal for 2014 is to average 40 mpg at 60 mph. This will require aero and gearing mods, the biggest of which is a functional and professional looking aerocap.

My main goal was to beat my 2012 average of 40.3 mpg, which I did with a 42.3 mpg average. My other goals were to better my record tanks and to at least get one 45 mpg tank, I got 2 of them and almost a 3rd. Also wanted a 2+ month tank and that was fairly easy with riding the Ninja more.

Goals for 2014 are to beat my 2013 average, but I will need new tires soon and am afraid that is going to hinder my results...

I acquired a gas sipper civic VX trading for a 30mpg cavalier. Also got a promotion which will cut my work week from 6 to 5 days effectively reducing my weekly commute 17%! I have averaged ~57mpg so far. Both of these improvements together should yield a 56% reduction is fuel consumption!

next year, I want to see 60 mpg averages at 60-65mph. Right now, my commute is 57mpg at 55-60.

I will use aero mods first and see how far that gets me.

2013 = Better Batteries, 2014 Goal = Solar Panels

My dream goal for 2013 was to replace my low capacity storage batteries with some strong A123 batteries allowing me to utilize the full potential of my controller and motor.

Since building my bike, I've had it de-tuned to 12 kW (16hp) maximum to protect my cheap batteries. With some decent batteries I can allow myself to use the full 30 kW (40 hp) power of the drive train and have more fun riding.

In spite of this, I had a good year riding. I rolled past 10,000 miles on my Delta-11 prototype averaging under 100Wh/Mile (330 mpge) from the Wall.

So, this goal for 2014 is the same as 2013, to find some A123 batteries to install in my bike.

My other goal for 2014 is to install solar panels so that all power used by my bike is "Zero Emission". That goal is moving ahead very well. See details at Renewable Future For Us - What Can I Do Today?

A goal is something that you strive for, not something that you expect to achieve ... that's what I keep telling myself at least.

This time last year I was progressing really well having achieved my 2012 goal, then it all went sideways.
I did get a one tank personal best, but my averages didn't improve.

I'm not giving up though, the old goal of 5.0 L/100km for 3 tanks in a row just rolls over into another year.

I did a pretty good job. I posted this earlier on this thread:
http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea...d-19954-7.html

Quote:
I did pretty good this year--far better than what I'd hoped.

2012 Totals:
Total Fills = 11
Total Miles = 14,637.9 miles
Total Fuel Used = 384.759 gallons
Average Mileage = 38.04 mpg
Best Tank = 1,465.2 miles on 35 gallons (47.01 mpg)
Fuel Cost per Mile = 8.55 cents/mile

2013 Goals:

Total Fills <= 10
Average Mileage >= 41 mpg
Best Tank >= 50 mpg

On a personal note, like most people I have the opposite problem as Pale. Duing 2012 I lost 85 lbs. I'd like to do at least that again in 2013 to put me closer to the "healtly" BMI range.
2013 Totals:
Total Fills = 8
Total Miles = 13,409.4 miles
Total Fuel Used = 283.4 gallons
Average Mileage = 47.3 mpg
Best Tank = 2,009.6 miles on 35 gallons (57.42 mpg)
Fuel Cost per Mile = 6.57 cents/mile

Also, on the weight loss front I made quite a bit of progress. I didn't drop another 85 lbs, but I did drop another 70 lbs in 2013 (170 lbs total). Related to the weight loss goals, I achieved several milestones in running and cycling. I didn't really set goals for myself at the beginning of 2013 per se, but kind of set some out there towards the end of the year. I wanted to run a half marathon distance without stopping, which I did. I wanted to run at least 100 5k's, and completed 110. Total distances for 2013 were 387.5 mi running, and 636.1 mi cycling--1,023.6 mi total, which met my goal of >1,000 mi.

For 2014 I intend to focus more on the fitness probably than the truck, but here go goals for 2014:

1) Loose the last 30 pounds to get down under 200 lbs.
2) Get to 15% body fat (at 23% right now).
3) Run a marathon
4) Get 1 year average mileage over 50 mpg.
5) Get at least one tank better than last year's best.

Didn't quite manage to halve my average fuel consumption by changing cars, but at 8.5lhk vs 4.3, almost. Still a way off halving the best consumption of the Golf, but hoping for 3.15lhk or better this summer, with more aero and engine mods!

In 2013
Improved new Sprinter van to 8.6L/100km from 11.0L/100km
27.3mpg from 21.3mpg

This was done with upper grill block and partial underbody

Got my Honda VT500 up to 86mpg in the Vetter challenge

This was mainly due to very little wind.

For 2014
I hope to get the Sprinter Van down below 7.8L/100km [better than 30mpg].

The plan for the VT500 is to get down to 2.5L/100km [94mpg]

The plan for the Honda CBR600 is to get it on the road with the full "dustbin" fairing, and try to get it to 100mpg or better.

Start on KLR 650 dustbin fairing project.

Start on CR85 seat lowering for Bonneville streamliner project.

Start on boat tail for Yaris...

Retirement is fun...
