I think I wisely did not set any car efficiency-related goals in 2013.
However, I will now demonstrate my unwillingness to learn from my own good example by saying that in 2014 I will ...
(A) make a "pro" quality bumper to hood insert/block for the Firefly/Metro (winter project, relatively easy), and,
(B) make/modify a trailer hitch for the same car so I can use it for light trailer towing and also as a mounting point for a (future) removable boat tail.
Lots more I'd like to do, but I know better than to say I actually will.

On the Lupo 2l project:
Yes I reached two liter fuel consumption level.
Yes I built very fast car,
Yes got 120 hp and 280 Nm from 1.2 TDI
No I did not reach 0.20 Cd only 0.221
For summer 2014 its time to tune Audi A8 D2:
3 liters at 100 km/h speed= 61,9 MPG us at 62 MPH
Tune that 1.2 TDI to 144 hp and 350 Nm ( Best hp per liter figure in production diesel)
Weigth under 1400 kg, while keeping interior
Cd should be 0.22 to reach those goals
Whats keeping me down is money as I dont have the money for that car at the moment and if I will get it after later next year it will be very tight schedule as Finnish summer is short.
For 2015 it will get some EV help to make it faster than S8 models out there .

^^As a Finnish American, I envy anyone who is actually in Finland...except in winter, which is most of the time. And even then, I'd rather surround myself with Finnish drivers in wintertime. East Tennesseans see one flake of snow and they all go completely insane, hotpedaling all the way to the grocery store to snap up all the soup, bread and milk. In the morning, there's 1/2" of snow on the ground and dozens of cars on their roofs in the ditches. Crazy.
Hits:
For 2013, I got two cars above the "Hypermiler" threshold.
I've begun consistently averaging well above 40mpg on my DD. This was a non-model-specific goal, if I'd known I'd be driving a hybrid I would have shot for higher.
Misses:
I have added no aero mods to any of my vehicles.
I haven't finished repairing my G'ma's old Colt Vista. Need tentacles for arms for some of those bolts, and I have no lift and indeed no room in the shop for the car, so it takes cool but not-rainy weather, and daylight.

Swapped from diesel to cheaper, cleaner burning CNG.
Got rid of the Diesel Particulate Filter misery - and got rid of the poisonous ultra-fine soot altogether.
118 g CO2/km with the Volvo, went down to 100 g CO2/km.
(that's without compensating for the biologically sourced CNG that I tank whenever I can)
Price per 100km came down from 6.13 to 0.62 euro.
That's temporarily though, as I'm mostly tanking using a 500 € CNG bounty I got when buying the car.
The actual price drop will be just shy of 50%.
The silly low price of CNG fuel does reduce my motivation to reduce fuel consumption even further.

Thanks... though I think finding *and* marrying your ideal partner is a bit more impressive...

In the meantime, I've been driving the Cummins when it's freezing, and the motorcycle when it's not. The truck doesn't even warm up in the time it takes to get to work, and the bike is never warm.
Thanks for the warning; I have driven a few Prii, and true, the lack of shifting and power is the end of certain kinds of fun, but the techno-geek in me finds pleasure in efficiency. Besides, I can shift my own gears and go faster than anyone should go on the motorcycle. I intend to buy a fuel efficient car and take road trips with the wife. Our requirement was something that gets good fuel economy, has a low total cost per mile, and can sleep in the back.
We're not rich, but we don't want that to prevent us from seeing the world.

Good luck finding the Prius; I agree the tech is very cool but the old-timer in me can't let go of the need to "do it myself"...

Thanks for everyone's input. Keep it coming!!!
If I had to choose only one item of my polling it would be "knowledge"
It has been the one item I consider to be the most useful for me.
Knowledge from this forum has help me spend my "money" more wisely. I have made the mistake of putting money into areas that give me very little gain for the dollar. In doing so it has taking away some of my my "ambition" to keep working on the project. It has also cost me more "time", by not using my time more wisely.

2013 goal was achieved. I wanted to get a truck that i could get over 30 mpg with and still be able to haul a ton of weight if I needed to.
I achieved this with a ranger
2014 goal is to get close to 40 mpg in this ranger. I am planning on doing this by refining my driving skills more and adding an aerotopper with a couple of other smaller aero mods. Got all the material for the aerotopper now I just need to find the time to put it together.

I wanted to get around to building a belly pan for the Focus. Just never got around to it.
2014, I would like to focus (hehe) on a air dam and a belly pan for the Focus.

Time and money are the things that hold me back.
This year's goal (I can't find the 2013 goal thread, but I don't think I set any goals) would simply be to use less fuel than last year.
