I thought tethers were a dumb idea, because there was no way these things were EVER going to fall off!
In fact, I have no actual proof it fell off.
Maybe someone stole it. Yeah, that's it. And the tether wouldn't have stopped that either!

did the whole cover come off with mags still attached with glue? mags stay attached to rim but cover left? were there any other fingerprints beside yours on or around the area of the car that the cover went missing? did you dust, take impressions, photographs? any surveillance equipment used? i need details!

They took everything! Plastic disc, glue & magnets.
I didn't dust for prints, but I did remove the remaining discs for safekeeping.
I suspect Big Oil.

recycled discs: this time with zip ties
Update! I re-used the magnetic coroplast discs...
Before:
Air blenders! Sexy, sexy air blenders.
After:
How to hide your unsightly alloy wheels, and gain aero efficiency.
Of course, the magnets wouldn't stick, so this time they're zip tied on:
And of course I needed to make a 4th disc to replace the one that was stolen *.
