I actually used a junk plasma cutter transformer for my inductor. Works great. Measured at about 15mH. I'd be very interested to see the info on your design. I like simple circuits!

Here's a quick video on measuring an unknown inductor. A few people have asked me about this procedure. Hope i got it right

Adam,

Did you ever get the schematics to post of Williamson's charger? I would really like to see it if it is available.

Thanks....
Rick

Looking forward to seeing the OpenSource charger become available and integrated into the open BMS and controller. Great work to all those involved.

Hey Guys,

I did get the schematics, But he asked me to wait to post them till he finished the prototype. I believe the prototype will be tested this week or so. I will keep you guys posted with the progress.

I had a 120 volt pack and changed to a 144 volt pack so the charger I made
would not charge that high from a 110 outlet. I moved some connections
around and changed a capacitor. Now the open source control board is a
boost regulator. The voltage goes all the way 186 volts for balancing
and the amps are contolled with potentiometer. My batteries are 115 ah
so I hold the charge amps at 11.5 . The charger was woking as a taper charge. The amps would start at 11 and taper off fast as the voltage came up. It was slow. Now I have to reduce the amps after bulk charge . This is
much better for opportunity charging. Most people have at least a 15 amp
outlet I can use. The bulk charging part takes less than half the time as before.

Hello, I'm new to this forum/thread... Hi everybody
I was just wondering, did someone tried to use the motor
controller as a charger. I think it can be esily achieved
if there is contactor on the (M-) terminal of the motor
wich will cut off and divert the output from the controller to (P-) of the rectified
mains line, and it will share the same (+) as the battery, controller
and the motor. There is current sensor on board, it just needs some
precise voltage monitoring of the battery pack. The rest should be
coded in firmware, two or three stage chraging, constant current, voltage, float
etc...
Also this contactor could be used as emergency cut off, and protection
if contoller fails somehow, like poped to always conductive FET,
Contactor terminals can be wired N.C. to mains rectifier, N.O. to Motor, and common to controller (M-).

Any suggestions?

Hi, again... I've just forgot... the current limiting inductor should be connected in series between the rectifier bridge's (+) and the battery pack's (+)
