As far as I've noticed, there is exactly one person on this forum who regularly tries to twist non-political or marginally-political posts into a club with which to browbeat the rest of us with his conviction that anything he happens to dislike is part of the vast left-wing conspiracy. You can find this person in the nearest mirror.

That's where the Mason-Dixon line is. Maryland is where the South begins.

Southerners and Yankees still think differently. It's a cultural thing. They may not want to move to the other (Northern or Southern) half of the country for that reason. But by now they have learned to tolerate their differences, without trying to kill each other.

Could you please make your responses about me a bit more ad-hominem? Otherwise you might not succeed in being an effective rabble-rouser.

If you don't, your buddy Frank and others might be disappointed.

And also be sure to never, ever let the issue rest and continually attest that your convictions and stated opinions could never be anything other than being entirely, purely coincidental with the ideology of an established political movement. (Which amounts to preaching to your "amen chorus" here.)

BTW, be sure to constantly thank each other for every post you make. The "thanks" button on this list should be re-labeled as the "attaboy" button, as that is what it often is.

Does the one who stuffs the ballot box the most by responding the most WIN this fantasy referendum?

Thanks to Thyme I'm unsubscribing from yet another thread. All the less e-mail notifications in my mailbox.
I hope I won't have to unsubscribe from the whole forum.

I wish I hadn't started this now, although it stops other threads being affected - maybe.

Not really.
Watering down the term for everyday use, is no good either.
The term is best reserved to denote the kind of ideology that spawned it.

Actually it refers to the Maryland line in the Revolutionary War that saved the Continental Army from total defeat and capture when Washington was retreating from the British in what Is now New York. Washington himself recognised their contribution and the fact that they had saved his Bacon and probably the Revolution as well.

I think I asked you this before. Is it any less caustic in Europe? I mean, can a healthy debate be maintained without everything going to heck in a handbasket?
