11 is about what my dad got out of his 99 w/ 5.9l, i could only get 16mpg burning a whole tank on a trip running about 60mph the whole time. from the rest of your comments i'm thinking look at the "100+ hypermiling tips" and maybe a scangauge, if you could get .5 mpg more with its help it would pay for itself in about 10,000miles since youre looking at 11mpg

my dad went from 11 to 16, driving the same way, the same routes, but with an '08 5.3L silverado

if the evap system is working properly it should be helping your mileage a little, and the electric fan(s) and grill block should help. i wouldnt think the cold air would help, but i hate how the stock air intake attaches to the tb worse, so i'd keep it anyway.

Does the chip run a lean cruise map? You won't get away with what a car can due to weight and drag, but you might still have some fat in your cruise mixture.

You could also pick up 1mpg by friction reduction treatment to engine and drivetrain - something like Militec-1 or Slick 50. Some oils help mpg too but careful not to go too thin.

I agree with you about cold air. Hot fuel is good for mpg though, but loses power in some cases - not always.

Skid plates for aerodynamic improvement under the truck?
There's a guy on here (forgetting the name currently) that was using skid-plates - both aftermarket, and some home-made out of thin aluminum sheets, to improve the aerodynamic drag under his Cherokee, could help with the Ram as well... It won't be huge, and probably not as big as an aero-cap for the bed, but could gain you a little if you want to go through the time/effort.
If you make a type of belly pan following the lines a skid-plate would, you'd improve airflow without really cutting into your approach angle, etc. Not as effective as dropping it, but it would help while keeping it a truck. Looking at doing something similar to my Suburban when I get the chance... but I'm a new lurker here, too.

55 mph. Easy acceleration, drive with load, light anticipation...like someone mentioned previously "100 tips" should help where there biggest gains are to be had...driver skills.
