This is why Diesel engines are far superior to gas engines . Also why I firmly believe that if the insight had been designed with a diesel engine instead of a gas, the EPA would be ~65/85 and not 53/61

Agreed on both counts. Diesels rule. But gub'ment is trying to strangle them, so I've written off the possibility of buying any new diesel. VW 1.9s are essentially the only game in town for older ones, and I am not prepared to maintain those.

I'm still around and doing fine. Just kinda moved on to other interests. I'm still driving the truck and averaging in the high 30's mpg most of the time. I haven't really done any significant modding.
At some point I'll post details on what I've been up to. The main thing was focusing of weight loss and fitness. In September of 2011 I weighed over 400 pounds. Over the next 3 years, I lost 200 pounds by diet & exercise, ran a full marathon last year, and have kept the weight off now for almost a year now.
