Thanks, I didn't see this the first time around.

The pitfall sees to be noise, which you didn't experience. Did you copy the spacing pattern from a commercial example?

It's a little late now, but for all that work I'd double down with cryonic tempering. It extends the service life of the parts to 3 or 4x (allegedly).

I always take brake mods with a grain of salt. When it comes to vented drums, AFAIK there were some which were made that way catering to the hot-rod scene, but I wouldn't be really willing to try it. Most users of vehicles with all-around drum brakes in my country claim it to be more reliable under harsh environmental conditions, and venting it would be out of question to prevent debris to get into the drums. IIRC the Mitsubishi Canter for example, even though resorting to all-around disc brakes on its RWD variants in Europe, gets drums all around for the 4WD ones.

I made my own hole spacing pattern. It covers one half of the braking surface circumference and then repeats on the other half to prevent imbalance. I have seen other non-repeating patterns that introduce a lot of imbalance, but a repeating pattern fixes that.

I have not heard any noise from the drums, and there is currently no bed on the truck, so I should be able to hear it with my back window open. The only sound is a very light hiss as the pads touch the drums, which is the same sound drums make anyway. No humming or whistling. They are smooth and predictable every time they are applied. I will be taking the drums off soon for an inspection, but expect to find everything as it was. I will try to remember to get pictures or video.

The entire subject matter here on this forum is to modify vehicles. What you just said has been said a thousand times with the same response....do it at your own risk. I know what I am doing, and my brakes have been working great for over 10 years! This mod definitely improved braking, and therefore safety.

I don't understand the reasons shy, but there seem to be NPC (non-player character) AI (artificial intellect) newbies that come in, dilute the content, and are expunged by the mods. On the regular.
