car's fuel injected, last I herd it was OBD 0 but its possible its obd 1 like I first assumed.

Anywho, went to the movies and got aquanted with the gauge. Pull a super steady 20 in-hg at idle, and from ive read this is very good. I keep the acceleration at 10 or more in-hg generally, and can cruise at 90 km/h with anywhere from 15-18. how do these numbers sound?

Sounds like you're on the right track. Another thing instead of just reducing your acceleration when going down hill get completely off the accelerator if you can maintain the same speed or near the same speed. Your vacuum will probably run somewhere between 20-25 when decelerating.

is this method more effective than DWL?

Next trip im going to try some DWL'ing, I think I pretty much get the idea of it. Say the speed on flat ground is 80km/h and 17 in-hg vacuum. try to maintain the 17 in-hg constantly by letting off on uphills, and increasing throttle on down (accelerating to say 100km/h).

Is that in the ballpark of the right idea?

My car idles at 21. Sometimes instead of popping the car in "N" I will decell so the vacuum gauge reads 21 which is equal to idle speed and no load. Gotta do it just right so you dont "jerk" the car in that zone though.
