E15 on the way?
New Ethanol Blend Puts Engine Warranties at Risk
The Environmental Protection Agency’s decision last week to pave the way for the sale of gasoline blended with up to 15 percent ethanol is likely to prove a nightmare for car owners who improperly fuel their gas tanks, the Environmental Working Group warns.
The EPA took its action even though every major automaker has warned that millions of vehicle warranties will be voided if drivers fill up with E15.
If the EPA proceeds, it means consumers will pull into gas stations that could have as many as four pumps with different kinds of fuel:
one for E10 (up to 10 percent ethanol);
one for E15;
possibly one for E85 (between 70 and 85 percent ethanol); and
maybe one for old-fashioned gasoline.
Some stations will also have diesel and natural gas, although they use different-sized nozzles to help eliminate fueling errors.
The EPA intends to approve E15 only for vehicles manufactured after 2000. But some gas station pumps may not even have labels specifying which ethanol blend is which, because not every state requires them.

The EPA doesn't apply logic or consider advice from sound authority.
Untainted gasoline is hard to come by, I am lucky enough to have the only ethanol free station I know of in my area just down the steet from me.

Our 2005 honda has a warning to not use anthing higher than E-10. My Nissan did not like even E-10. The Jeep still needs new stainless fuel lines to handle even E-10, the rubber ones have already been replaced to handle E-85. The 66 Mustang, heh yeah.
They didn't even put stickers on the pumps here until a couple of months after the switch. Cost me $300 when my mileage suddenly dropped and I thought something was wrong.

The EPA isn't going to mandate anything that will cause us to pay less in fuel taxes.

Just install blender pumps, let us pick the blend we want to use. Only my Impala is FFV but the other two have had blends in the 40% range with no CEL or rough running. They just loose the appropriate MPG vs energy content.

Sounds like more subsidies. I haven't even thought to look for pure gas because I thought E10 was the lowest concentration available. Wonder if the '65 F100 will work better on pure gas, hah. If only they offered leaded the thing wouldn't need those stupid lead additives either.
Maybe with the alt switch, a boat tail and E0 gas the probe will touch 50mpg.

Good. I'll run it, except when I'm running a E85 blend.

Just google search "ethanol free gas detroit, MI (or any where)" and chances are some one will have a page or post about it.
I didnt open any of the links when I searched "ethanol free gas detroit, MI" but it looked like there were at least 3 good leads.

It could. Our 2008 hyundai sonata shows at least +3mpg on the highway when running E0.

You guys have E0? I cant remember the last time I saw that. E10 is the only choice here. I have no problem with E15, if stations are required to provide notification.
